In order to align with the Parental Leave benefit outlined in DHRM Policy 4.21, the VCCS implemented a new leave type in HRMS on 9/20/19. This new benefit provides up to eight weeks of paid Parental Leave to enable eligible employees to care for and bond with a newborn, or for a child under the age of eighteen (18) newly-placed for adoption, foster or custodial care. The new leave type is available in HRMS for employees to enter in Employee Self Service or can be managed by a leave administrator at the agency’s discretion.
Agencies will be required to load Parental Leave hours to eligible employee’s leave balances and remove any remaining hours past the period of eligibility. Additional guidance can be found on the Human Resource Services Buzz page found here: Parental Leave.
