The SSC would like to make you aware of upcoming changes with your motorcycle training programs. We have been working with the Motorcycle Safety League of Virginia, Inc. (MSLVI) for several years. Our current memorandum of agreement (MOA), which operates under the Department of Motor Vehicle’s (DMV) contract was set to expire March 5, 2020. Upon looking into the renewal of our paperwork, we were made aware that DMV has a new solicitation in progress. DMV decided to solicit for a new contract due to some ongoing service concerns. DMV has extended the contract with MSLVI through June 30, 2020 to allow for the new contract award. Thus, we have extended the VCCS agreement through June 30, 2020 to align with DMV.
The new solicitation includes only the leasing and maintenance of the motorcycles, which means that the training piece has been removed. The training piece will still be provided through DMV, however it will be handled separately from the motorcycles and maintenance. The new contract could be awarded for up to four (4) vendors, based on service zone. DMV has assured the SSC that the colleges will not have a lapse in service, however, we want to ensure that you are aware that changes are coming. We will keep everyone abreast as we receive new information.
