Reason: Process Improvement for Mandatory Source Orders

Date: August 23, 2019

Your requisitions to Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) and the Virginia Distribution Center (VDC) will now go faster!

The Shared Services Center is pleased to announce that we have made enhancements to the workflow for those two Mandatory Sources which will improve processing speed. To ensure that your orders are processed as quickly as possible, we ask that you please remember the following when ordering from VIB and VDC:

– Submit requisitions (PRs), instead of Slim Line Forms. Slim Lines will still be accepted, but processing will not be significantly faster.

– Always use the Punch-out catalogs to create your orders; this ensures pricing is current and correct.

– VIB orders of office supplies must be over $30 to avoid paying shipping. Glove orders must be 10 boxes or more to avoid paying shipping.

– In the rare cases that you must get a quote from one of these vendors and submit non-catalog items, please submit the requisition with VENDOR TO BE DETERMINED as the supplier; Shared Services will complete the PR.

Purchases to VIB and VDC are required by Virginia regulations, but they also support state-wide initiatives. VIB purchases directly benefit the blind and vision impaired by providing jobs for those individuals, and purchases to VDC support the Department of General Services. In addition, by purchasing on behalf of the entire state, these vendors can negotiate the lowest possible prices.

Please familiarize yourself with their catalogs in the links below (to make a purchase, you must navigate to the catalogs after logging into eVA):
