Procurement Snapshot

Procure-to-Pay – Contracts and Purchasing Activity
Date: September 22, 2025
Subject: Procurement Snapshot
Attention: SSC Management Council Members; VPs of Finance; Business Managers; All eVA End Users

Dear Colleges,

In FY24, the VCCS began an initiative to reduce sole source purchases of medical equipment and lab supplies, aiming for simpler order processing and better pricing. We are pleased to announce the award of contracts to a strong group of lab-based suppliers who will support our Colleges with a wide range of products and services.

Despite outreach efforts, some vendors—including Pocket Nurse*, Dema Dose, SynDaver, Mirion Technologies, and Core Laboratory Supplies—did not participate in the RFP. These vendors will continue to require vetting via the Sole Source process or other compliant procurement methods.

Presented below is a list of the vendors who received awards and a description of their offerings.  The Department of General Services (DGS) does maintain optional statewide contracts for lab/medical equipment and supplies, as well.  To use our new contracts listed below, we will need to consider DGS’ contracts first.

Please note:

  • A complete listing of existing contracts and open solicitations is always available to you here:

  • A short tutorial on using this listing is also available in the SSC Content Library:

A Brief Tour of VCCS Contracts**

Please see this month’s details below. And, as always, please contact SSC Customer Engagement at 877-340-5577 or help@ssc.vccs.edu if you have any questions or need additional assistance.

Thank you!

*Please note: While Pocket Nurse is not available as a direct purchase, their products and services are available through our new contract with Technical Education Solutions

Queued Solicitations:
A selection of upcoming solicitations that may impact your sub-agency. Although these solicitations have not started, reach out to the SSC if your sub-agency wants to be included in the solicitation process.

The Queued Solicitations list is part of the broader Procurement Intake Process, which serves as the strategic entry point for initiating solicitations.

We track our upcoming opportunities in a ‘place holder’ like listing for the following:

  • Expiring contracts that need to be resolicited
  • New procurement needs awaiting assignment
  • Initiatives or Projects pending resource availability

The following opportunities intended to be available to all Colleges are planned to commence in the coming months:

Title Type Estimated Start Month
Mat Rental Services Expiring Contract October

Exam Soft Services

Sole Source Review November

Reminder: If you have identified a new procurement need that may require a complex solicitation (typically over $100,000), please complete a Strategic Sourcing Request Form. Once reviewed by the procurement team, the request will be added to the Queued Solicitations list, provided there is no active solicitation or existing cooperative opportunity that meets the need.

The Procurement Intake** procedure is available to you in the SSC Content Library for reference.
